Optimisation de la propagation lumineuse en milieux désordonnés : temps de séjour, dispersion temporelle, et focalisation

Abstract : Tools from adaptive optics have been used to control light transport through disordered opaque media for fifteen yearsnow. For example, the measurement of the transmission matrix enables us to focus light through scattering media or toretrieve an image blurred by this medium. This thesis, both theoretical and experimental, tackles the optimization of threeproperties of light in complex media by wavefront shaping: stored energy, temporal dispersion and transmitted intensity.Firstly, we establish the expression of an operator for the stored energy in an arbitrary dielectric medium. The eigenvaluedistribution of this operator for a strongly disordered medium is studied, both numerically and analytically, unravelingun upper edge for the stored energy. Secondly, we investigate the temporal control of the transmitted signal through ascattering medium. By using a matrix approach, we show numerically that it is possible to find some wavefronts whichenable us to limit temporal dispersion caused by propagation, as well as having control over the mean output time. In thelast part of this thesis, we study experimentally the feasibility of focusing light through an opaque medium in transmissionsolely by carrying out an optimization of the reflected field.
