Charles de Villers et l'Allemagne. Contribution à l'étude du Préromantisme européen.

Abstract : Charles de Villers (1765-1815) is a precursor of Madame de Stael, who discovered as an emigrant Germany's cultural resources and tried to make them known in France. He prepared the way to french Romanticism. This study shows his way from a french 18th century man to an enthusiast of german culture and describes his image of Germany . Charles de Villers was also one of the first comparatists.
