Prise en compte de la dimension finie des faisceaux d'éclairage en granulométrie optique: anémométrie phase Doppler

Abstract : The optical diagnosis by phase Doppler anemometry of particles encountered in two­phase flows require the use of focused laser beams. The influence of the intensity gradients induced on the particle surface is considered in the first part of this manuscript. Several new phase Doppler geometries are proposed, enabling to suppress the errors induced by the so­called « trajectory effects ». The second part of this work deals with the extension of the phase Doppler anemometry to particle refractive index measurements in addition to size and velocity measurements. Numerical simulations and experimental tests demonstrate the validity of the proposed techniques. Applications to particle material recognition, coalescence study and temperature measurements are shown or discussed. The third part of this manuscript presents the proposed solutions to extend the phase Doppler technique to the sizing of cylindrical particles (fibres, liquid jets), non­homogeneous particles or irregular particles. The case of particles with internal refractive index gradients, or with a core, is particularly detailed, by using the theoretical work made to extend the generalized Lorenz­Mie theory to this kind of particles.
