Abstract : This thesis is concerned with cold atoms manipulation with
nanostructured objects. Two series of experiments linked with this
topic were driven. In the first one we have implementated and
caracterised an intense atomic beam transversaly cooled by optical
molasses. This source was used in lithography experiments to
pattern gold films \emph{via} self assembled monolayers. After a
study of each step of the process, we have investigated the use of
different types of material masks to realized sub-micron features
on the gold substrate. We have achieved feature sizes down to 250
nm, this resolution being limited by the size of the material
mask.

In a second group of experiments, we have studied the optical
response of sub-wavelength apertures in metallic thin films. We
have first developped a microscopy fluorescent imaging setup used
to map the optical field shaped by subwavelength slits flanked by
periodical grooves. To gain understanding on the physics of light
transmission by these elements, we have then performed systematical
studies of the optical properties of simple subwavelength
apertures by far field interferometry. The quantitative results
obtained allow a phenomenological description of the elementary
processes at play in those devices and can be compared to
theoretical models.
