Analyse physique et simulation numérique des écoulements compressibles. Application aux tuyères de propulseurs

Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the numerical simulation of physical phenomena with application to aeronautics and aerospaces domain. It deals with the numerical simulation of flow separation in overexpanded rocket nozzle, the aircraft afterbody flow and the shock/shock interaction in 2D supersonic nozzle. The main objective of the present work is to bring a better understanding of some physical aspects poorly understood from direct physical experimentation. The introduction is presented in the first chapter. The second chapter develops the Favre-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The closure problem of these equations together with different turbulence models, ranging from simple models to complex ones are presented. The numerical method used is explained in the third chapter, while the boundary condition traitment is presented in the fourth chapter. The numerical simulation of flow separation in overexpanded rocket nozzle is studied in the fifth chapter.
A particular attention is made to the nozzle start-up process (separation point location, formation and development of turbulence structure, starting shock with vortex rings formation). In chapter 6, the performances of the previous turbulence models are compared and
analyzed critically for afterbody configuration for which detailed measurements are available. The chapter 7 concerns the numerical investigation of shock wave reflections in steady flows. The transition between regular and Mach wave configurations is particularly studied. The conclusions and prospects constitute the content of the last chapter.
