Étude expérimentale d’écoulements turbulents à effets de flottabilité dominants en milieu confiné comportant un obstacle partiellement chauffé

Abstract : This experimental thesis is a study of a turbulent buoyancy-driven flow within a cubic cavity which contains a cubic obstacle partially heated on one of its verticalface. The regimes of the confined air flow are representative of regimes encountered in nuclear and automotive sectors. In this work, two types of boundary conditions for the obstacle heated face are studied : (i) steady boundary conditions (ii) unsteady boundary conditions. In the air flow, temperature and wall flux measurements are carried out with a micro-thermocouple and velocity measurements are performed with particle image velocimetry (PIV). Thermal and dynamical analysis of the flow show a complex topology. In a steady regime, boundary layer flows, recirculation zones and an oscillating buoyant jet are notably observed. The jet oscillating frequency comes from a boundary layer instability. This instability is responsible for the transition to a turbulent regime. The unsteady regime study highlights the emergence and evolution of topological structures already observed in the steady regime study.
