Leadership et compétences émotionnelles des personnels de direction dans la gouvernance des collèges et des lycées de l'Education Nationale en France

Abstract : The massification of schools and the changes in schools and in society since the 1960s in France have brought more complexity to schools and created new tensions in schools. Thus, to respond to this complexity and reduce these tensions, the management staff of middle and high schools must now add to the management and administration skills that traditionally appeared in their portfolio of skills, new leadership skills referring to emotional skills. It is about moving from a model of command to a model of governance. But, does this actually translate into the perception that management staff say they have mastered these new skills? In other words, how does the perception that management personnel have of their mastery and the importance of emotional skills testify to the effectiveness of the semantic shift of the leadership approach in National Education? In order to explore this question, the researcher conducted research in the form of a case study with management staff, based on a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire questioned them on the perception of their level of mastery of these skills and on the level of mastery that they deem necessary to exercise their function.Respondents on the one hand reported having less proficiency in emotional leadership skills than more technical skills, and on the other hand, a lower level of proficiency in emotional leadership skills than deemed necessary.Training to consolidate and / or acquire mastery of these emotional leadership skills seems essential for the semantic shift of the leadership approach to be truly embodied in the practices of management personnel and for the passage of a bureaucratic command model to a school governance model is effective.
