Préparation de géopolymères à partir de quelques types d’argiles Marocaines, étude, faisabilité et tests de revêtements

Abstract : This work is part of the development of a geopolymer binder based on Moroccan clays and sands from the region of Fez. These raw materials have been characterized by different physicochemical and structural techniques such as X-ray fluorescence, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, these analyzes were carried out on these materials in their natural state and calcined at 700 °C, then an alkaline activation was carried out with a potassium silicate solution. The feasibility of geopolymers based on these precursors has been studied and formulations have been developed. The obtained materials exhibit interesting thermal and mechanical properties. Indeed, they have low shrinkage values in temperature compared to those of conventional geopolymers based on Metakaolin and a mechanical compressive strengths between 5 and 50 MPa. Three formulations exhibiting the suitable viscosity for projection using a spray gun were used as coatings on five types of substrates. The obtained results show a a coating adhesions ranging from 2 to 9 MPa. The interactions between the coatings and the substrates lead to an interphase with a thickness of the order of 8 μm acceptable for restoration work. These geopolymeric binders can be intended for the restoration of historical monuments while preserving the authenticity of the original structures.
