Activité langagière d'élèves de petite section de maternelle à propos de lectures d'albums : vers l'appropriation de modes d'agir-parler-penser d'une communauté discursive scolaire de lecteurs d'albums fictionnels

Abstract : This thesis focuses on the language of 3/4 year old pupils in the context of fictional storybook reading sessions in preschool class conducted from a comprehension teaching perspective. This study is part of a socio-constructivist framework of human development that considers the role of language in learning as fundamental. The research focuses on the analysis of pupil's verbal and paraverbal language activity, during class sessions and during story recall situations carried out in their homes. Three groups of pupils with a similar level of participation in storybook reading are more specifically studied, as well as six pupils from these groups, with a view to characterizing the appropriation of storybook use, the comprehension of the story, the functioning of the written word and modes of interactions with the audience (in the context of story recall). Indicators signaling the characteristics of the sessions (duration, proportion of paraverbal language interventions by students, proportion of teacher interventions, proportion of statements referring to storybook reading, average length of statements) make it possible to compile quantitative data and to assess variations between groups and over time. Qualitative analysis focuses on identifying the signs of the reading activity that put students in language, the modalities and nature of their language interventions, and discussion excerpts reporting episodes of collective construction of meanings. The comparative study of these three groups and these six students highlights the specialization of their modes of participation in the storybook reading activity, pointing to an outline of the appropriation of ways of acting, speaking and thinking in a school discourse community of fictional storybook readers.
