De l’obscurité à la résistance : identité bisexuelle et mutations socio-culturelles (Paris, Taïpei, années 1970 à nos jours)

Abstract : This thesis retraces the historical trajectories from obscurity to resistance of bisexual people in both French and Taiwanese society. The founding of two primary bisexual organizations--Bi the Way 拜坊 in Taipei in 2007 and Bi’Cause in Paris in 1997--served as essential catalysts for the emergence of “bisexual spaces” in the urban area of two capital cities. The privileged spaces broke with the norms and conventions relating to heteronormativity and monosexism and were conducive to expressions of identity and difference. These spaces not only strengthen the visibility of bisexuals, but also created an inclusive culture open to the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities.
