Identifications imposées ou choisie et participation visible à des évaluations médiatisées non-certificatives

Abstract : While patronymic identification prevails in the context of classroom assessments, the use of artifacts to collect learners' response makes it possible to propose alternative modalities of identification. Does the manipulation of learners' identification in a frequent, synchronous, on site non-certified assessment impact the visible participation recorded by the artifact? The literature argues that anonymity is the cause of visible participation as it protects learners' social esteem in case of error. We assume that the (un)traceability of the identifier, rather than anonymity (absence of name), affects the degree of social comparison between learners who contribute or not to meeting their needs for autonomy, competence and relationships identified in the theory of self-determination (SDT). We further explore the study of competence needs, which are paramount in a learning context, through the theory of achievement goals. We test 3 modalities of identification. Two imposed modalities explore the conventional polarity of traceability (pseudonymic identification vs. patronymic identification). The third modality allows learners to choose their identifier creating an additional identity polarity that opposes imposed identifications (patronymic and pseudonymic) to self-determined identification. We hypothesize that these 3 identification modalities satisfy differently the 3 needs identified in the SDT thwarting or encouraging intrinsic motivation. We measure these differentials by comparing the response rates recorded by the artifact during the frequent sequences of non-certified assessments implemented.
