Testimonial narratives are explicitly strategic and can be used in several ways, for example, to raise public awareness about social issues, to promote knowledge of community or national history, or to question the cultural, social or political status quo on key issues. This dissertation is concerned with the presence of women in Cuban testimonio literature, and how, as editors and/or protagonists, they can help us understand the way in which women’s identities, like that of other minority groups in Cuba, are shaped, portrayed and reclaimed through non-fiction writing and blogging, as can be seen through the detailed and contrasted analysis of five novel-length testimonios –Amparo: millo y azucenas (1970), Lengua de Pájaro: comentarios reales (1971), Reyita, sencillamente (1996), Historias de mujeres públicas (1998), and Habana Babilonia (2000)– and two blogs (Negra Cubana Tenía Que Ser and En 2310 y 8225).

Explicitement stratégique, le témoignage peut être à la fois un outil de sensibilisation autour de problèmes sociaux, un moyen de promotion pour l’histoire nationale ou d’une communauté, et une source de questionnement des statu quo culturels, sociaux et politiques. Ce travail de thèse s’intéresse à la présence des femmes dans la littérature cubaine de témoignage à travers cinq ouvrages –Amparo : millo y azucenas (1970), Lengua de Pájaro : comentarios reales (1971), Reyita, sencillamente (1996), Historias de mujeres públicas (1998), Habana Babilonia (2000)– et deux blogues (Negra Cubana Tenía Que Ser et En 2310 y 8225). Les éditrices ou protagonistes des témoignages étudiés nous aident à comprendre la manière dont les femmes cubaines –parmi d’autres groupes minoritaires– construisent, représentent et revendiquent leur identité à travers l’écriture de non-fiction sur de multiples supports depuis les premières années du processus révolutionnaire jusqu’à nos jours.
