Apports à la construction d’outillage information pour les études liées au patrimoine : Analyse d’un carrefour disciplinaire et cahier des charges pour une méthodologie d’intégration de connaissances hétérogènes

Abstract : There are several types of heritage works : studying a site/objects towards heritage nomination, building an exhibition in museum, ethnological, archaeological, historiographical works, etc. The very nature of the works depends on many aspects (e.g. the type of object, the overall intentionality, the documentation available, etc.). Most of the time, various works are aggregated, combining diverse points of view, hypothesis and information. Digital humanities, that is to say works in the humanities using digital assistance in a broad sense follow a growing trend since the 60’s, among them heritage works do not lag behind. Although, data quantity, diversity or heterogeneity, combined to heritage methodology and deontology lead to difficult relevant tool development. In a first part heritage works are analysed in their characteristics and the issues of heritage modelling from documentation. Upon this analysis, requirement specifications towards a digital tool addressing priority issues are presented. Opposition between the construction of meaning leading to heritage recognition, and the break of meaning inherent to digital calculation is discussed, as well as the need for transparency in modelling practices. The dynamics of Integrity and Authenticity criteria, partly guiding our contribution, is reaffirmed. Implementation, through the two use-cases of the Observatoire du Pic du Midi as well as the Gautier Meridian Circles, illustrates and proves relevance and limitations of our contribution.
