Utilisation des neurotropes dans les douleurs oro-faciales chroniques : apport d'une analyse de la littérature

Abstract : Chronic orofacial pain is a frequent reason for consultation in odontology. Certain neurotropics have been used since the 1940s in a wide variety of chronic pain. The purpose of our study was to analyze the latest literature data on neurotropic use in four clinical entities met daily in consultation, i.e. the trigeminal neuralgia, atypical facial pain, stomatodynia and disorders temporomandibular, and to give the clinician clear recommendations on their use in these pathologies. In our systematic review no evidence based on the facts could not be provided on the use of these molecules in chronic orofacial pain apart from carbamazepine in neuralgia trigeminal. Most of the treatments offered to these patients are offered from controlled studies of neurotropics used in pain non-orofacial neuropathic chronic. Controlled studies responding to strict methodological criteria are necessary in order to offer a treatment codified in these clinical entities.
