Étude du travail de l'enseignant autour de la simulation en classe de troisième et seconde : métamorphoses d'un problème au fil d'une formation.

Abstract : In college, probabilities were introduced in 2009 in relation to the simulation of random experiments. Difficulties identified among teachers in implementing work of tasks that could include simulation in third and second led us to investigate the implementation of one of these tasks ; that of the hare and the turtle. The three research questions we considered focus on nature links between random experiments, models and simulations, on the influence of physical or numerical artefacts on simulation, and on the question of links between simulation and proof. To characterize the teacher's mathematical work on simulation, we have used the theory of Mathematical Working Space (MWS) (Kuzniak, Tanguay and Elia, 2016) to describe and understand the dynamics of labour circulation around a task. We have developed an original methodology, centered on the notion of avatar, and which consists in following the trajectory of couples made up of avatars and associated ETMs following a continuous training based on an adaptation of Lesson Studies to the French context. Our study identified causes of the rupture between random experiments and models. It also shows that the choice of material and digital artifacts as well as the choice of the role of the teacher influences the simulation. In addition, the teacher favours instrumental evidence, which is not always the student's intention and can create a blocking in the ETM.
