Etude expérimentale du comportement thermochimique des fluides géothermaux et des corrosions induites

Abstract : The design sizing of heat exchangers in geothermal installations requires a good knowledge of geothermal fluids and gas/liquid equilibrium. The efficiency of heat exchangers is affected by the presence of gas. It is therefore essential to avoid degassing. Thermodynamic models are used to describe gas/liquid equilibrium. Nevertheless, model parameters are fitted from experimental data. Thus, the acquisition of gas solubility data in brine is fundamental. Moreover, geothermal fluids contains many corrosive species regarding materials. Material corrosion resistance has to be studied to ensure the better choice for heat exchangers.The first part of this PhD consisted in reproducing subsoil conditions of Upper Rhine Graben in a device used to characterize gas/liquid equilibrium at high pressure and high temperature. Carbon dioxide solubility has been measured in two synthetic brines containing sodium chloride NaCl, calcium chloride CaCl2 and potassium chloride KCl at 50, 100 and 150°C from 1 to 20 MPa.The second part of this work was focused on the corrosion study of material in CO2-brine environment at high temperature and high pressure. A new experimental pilot has been developed to conduct corrosion studies. Then, the surface of exposed material was characterized with different technics: X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)… The obtained results allow a better understanding of the formation of corrosion products. The nature of the corrosion product is controlled by the temperature and the composition of the material.
