Étude de la méronymie en russe : des fondements spatiaux aux aspects temporels

Abstract : This work deals with the semantics of part-whole relation, also known as meronymy, in Russian. We adopt a "dynamic" vision (associating space and time) on the referential space in order to improve the description and analysis of this lexical relation. To that end, we use formal logic methods and adopt the framework of mereo-topology. This framework offers the possibility to modelize spatial as well as temporal aspects of considered entities. After analyzing the relations between material entities and proceeding to the inventory of the Russian markers that refer to them, we focus on several phenomena that are specifically related to the temporal dimension: part-whole relation between periods of time or events, meronymy between non-contemporaneous entities (ingredients, products), temporal dependency between a part and the corresponding whole, etc. This dynamic approach allows us to account the relationships between meronymy and hypernymy and then to suggest a number of possible improvements to be applied to the proposed framework.
