Modele d'endommagement cyclique: application à la fatigue des enrobés bitumineux

Abstract : Repeated stresses and strains induced by traffoc loading can be very samaging for asphalt pavements. The accumulation of small degradation leads to fatigue damage. The fatiqgue behavior of pavement materials is studied with laboratory tests on asphalt mixes specimen. During these tests the damage evolution can be divided into three phases. A nonlocal isotropic continuum damage approcah is adopted to describe the material modulus loss during fatigue loadings. Two damage evolution laws are proposed, in respect to the experimental damage evolution kinetic. The constitutive equation are integrated in the Castem 2000 Finite Element code. To perform simulation for more than million loading cycles, a jump in cycle procedure isimplemented to allow the practical computation. The experimental data,used to identified and validate the model, are part of a current asphalt concrete interlaboratory testing program carried jointly by the RILEM and LCPC. The model parameteers identification procedure is applied to tension compression and trapezoïdal cantilever fatigue tests. the assumption of the isothermal process, is verified by simulating the cyclic viscoelasticity induced temperature increase. A classical damage rate expression gicen by a power law does not lead to a correct prediction of the sample failure. A new original, three phase evolution law is proposed for asphalt mixes fatigue analysis. This damage evolution law is identified and validated until the initiation of the specimen failure for previous testing conditions and under displacmeent of force controlled fatique tests. Then the model is applied to othr fatique testing conditions (LCPC shear test and four point bending tests). The influence of the boundary condition uncertainties and size effects are finally examinated in terms of the model prediction ability. the discusion of the results allow the prospect of pavement strcuture simulations in the future.
