FONDEMENTS THÉORIQUES POUR LA SIMULATION DE SYSTÈMES COMPLEXES EN GÉOGRAPHIE (Volume I - Recherche)

Abstract : The work presented here consists, in a first objective (COS-MA-GEMS research program), of elaborating a formal ontology of geographical objects that can constitute a starting point of a theoretical geography. We take here the term of ontology in its philosophical acceptation, which describes the essence of things, which describes this "who is". The second objective is to study the theoretical bases of a generic simulation tool of complex geographic systems (research program, MAGEO, funded by the ANR), whose objective is the design and development of a simulation platform multi-agents for geography. Starting from the most general concepts, we approach different mathematical approaches to the notion of space, as well as the concepts of structure, organization, interaction, matter, object and time. After making a synthesis of modeling tools based on Geographical Cellular Automata (GCA), we can identify a general model of GCA that relies on previously built objects. Then we generalize it to build the general model of a distributed geographic system agent-based(GSA), based on the Agent-Organization-Behavior (AOB) triptych, where the geographic object appears as a dual, relative, and self-referential entity.
