LES ENFANTS DU VOYAGE DANS LA CLASSE : INCERTITUDE DE ROLES ET AJUSTEMENTS DES PRATIQUES DU MAITRE DES ECOLES

Abstract : Over the past ten years or so, schooling traveller children has become a concern in the education system. Nowadays it tends to take place in state schools, but attending to these pupils is still problematic for the teachers, who put their professional practices in question. We have decided to focus our research on their point of view : first we analyse how they discribe their own role as primary school teachers. Then we try to understand the uncertainties caused by the presence of travellers in their classroom, and finally study the differents forms of involvement or non-involvement towards them. Comprehensive and qualitative sociology is used to reveal the subjective experience of the teachers and provide a knowledge and understanding about their activity with travellers pupils.
