, Ce chiffre est celui retenu pour construire notre modèle. Les truies donnent naissance à 5 980 porcelets (soit 25 porcs par truie et par an), qui pèsent en moyenne 1,5 kg à la naissance. Trois étapes successives sont prises pour modéliser l'alimentation du porc charcutier : l'allaitement, le post-sevrage et l'engraissement. A ces trois stades, le porcelet n'a pas besoin du même type d'aliment. En conséquence, le prix de l'aliment sera différent et la courbe de croissance de l'animal ne sera pas la même. L'abreuvement représente 93,6 % de la consommation d'eau d'un élevage de porc naisseur-engraisseur. Les données aboutissent à une consommation spontanée journalière d'eau de 23,8 litres par truie. En post-sevrage, la consommation moyenne journalière d'eau est de 3,1 litres. La consommation d'eau en cours d'engraissement s'accroît avec la consommation d'aliment. Pour un gain de croît d'un kilo de poids vif, la consommation moyenne d'eau est de 8,4 litres, mais peut varier de 6 à 11,9 litres en fonction de la saison, en liaison avec le besoin de régulation de la température interne du porc. Les porcs charcutiers sont abattus vers l'âge de six mois, Ils achètent des truies et verrats reproducteurs dans les élevages de multiplication. En France, un élevage moyen comporte 200 truies, 2013.
