PERMEABILITY MODELING OF ENGINEERING TEXTILES USED IN COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Abstract : The thesis is divided into eight chapters, including the chapter of the introduction. The second chapter presents a review of methods for predicting permeability. In Chapter 3, an analytical, numerical and experimental comparative analysis of the microscopic permeability of unidirectional fiber strands is carried out. Chapters 4 and 5 show a description of the selected methodologies for plan and thickness measurements, and describe fabrics specifications and permeability measurements. Chapter 6 presents the analytical model predicting in-plane permeability for different NCF and 3D-orthogonal fabrics. Chapter 7 presents a Numerical permeability analysis for unidirectional fabrics, NCF and woven taffeta. Finally, Chapter 8 draws the conclusions of this work and traces future prospects.
