O. Ptomechanics and . Field, The canonical optomechanical system (see Fig.4.1a) involves an optical cavity with one of the two end-mirrors fixed on a Mechanical Oscillator (MO) [50]. The coupling between the light in the cavity and the oscillator acts in two ways: the light in the cavity affects the motion of the mirror through radiation pressure, and the motion of the mirror changes the cavity frequency which affects the amplitude of the light in the field. Cavity optomechanics is a research area which involves various setups from the microscopic [133]?[136] to the kilometer scale [137], [138]. Applications are multiple: e.g. sensing [139], [140], generation of non-classical mechanical states [141], microwave-to-optical transducers [142].
