Ionisation collisionnelle d'atomes de rubidium très excités à énergie thermique

Abstract : This thesis reports a study of collisional ionizing processes involving highly excited rubidium atoms at thermal energy (450 K). In a cell, alkali toms are excited by lasers. Ionization occurs by collision with excited or ground state atoms. Ion analysis gives evidence that the main processes are Penning atomic ionization and Hornbeck Molnar associative ionization according to: Rb(nl) + Rb(5p) -• Rb+ + Rb + e- Rb(nl) + Rb(5s) -* Rb2+ + e- Experimental results agree with theoretical study of the mechanisms. Negative Ions are also observed for various levels. They are produced by the reaction: Rb(nl) + Rb(5s) => Rb+ + Rb- The production mechanisms are correlated to the energy of the initial excited level. The cross section for the energy pooling process is measured and interpreted. Rb(5p) + Rb(5p) => Rb(5d) + Rb(5s)
