Etude des rapports institutionnels et des rapports personnels des élèves à l'algèbre élémentaire dans la transition entre deux cycles d'enseignement : BEP et Première G.

Abstract : This doctoral thesis deals with transition problems in educational systems. a specific case is concerned : transition between tertiary programs, respectovely in vocational and general high schools. a specific domain is chosen : algebra. Research articultates two theoretical backgrounds: an anthropological and a cognitive one and, from a methodological point of view, is based on the definition of a multidimensional structure for algebraic knowledge. this structure is used to analyse both institional and personal relationships to algebra at play in the transition process and problems resulting from existing discrepancies between them. Then, it is used to resume local cognitive coherencies via the notion of "student s profile" and analyse students evolution in a given teaching process aiming at helping transition.
