L sub-unit onlaps a 21-16 Myr old metamorphic basement in SAB (Bellon, 1976) and represents a ca. 1 km-thick deposit (Table 1 2b, Figures 2 and 5), whereas in AB, a large syn-sedimentary diapirism is observed (km 55-110, Figure 4), in a way similar to the outer WAB The Serravallian " S " sub-unit deposited in a short stratigraphic time and correlates with Unit IV of AB (Figure 3A, B and C) It onlaps L sub-unit and depicts syn-rift tilting in western AB (Figures 3B and 3C; km 50 -180, Figure 4). Finally, the Tortonian " T " sub-unit is a widespread sequence equivalent to Unit III of, LB sub-unit is recognized by analogy with the unit drilled in the Alboran sea (Jurado and Comas depicting variable seismic signatures and thicknesses in AB (Figure 4), with a highly reflective lower boundary and an erosional truncation at its top, 1992.

Booth-rea, is 400-800 m thick and depict high frequency, high amplitude, high reflectivity reflectors, or units P2-P1 and Q3- the Alboran domain, numerous local basins and intrabasinal highs inherited from pre-Messinian times have developed, later controlled by transpressional stress phases, 1999.
