L'oeuvre d'Anatole France : à la recherche d'une philosophie du monde par l'écriture du Désir

Abstract : We analyse the Anatole France's production from the original angle of a key concept, the Desire. That main instance seems to renew terms and signification of this literature. As a matter of fact, the Desire has not really been studied until now, but it gives a new coherence to this production by deeply structuring France's thought. The Francian Desire develops a particular moral, hermeneutic and heuristic which produce a philosophy of the world. That original philosophy announces the Freudian unconscious and the phenomenology of Husserl. So, the France's contribution to history of literature seems to be fundamental. That philosophy of the world is directly stems from a poetics which sets human being at the center of the universe, by constructing phenomenology : degrading time, universal infinity, death, terrorizing and immutable dogmas, are destroyed by an ontological revolt. France will recreate a new world by using his Desire to understand the meaning of human existence. That world will overstep universal illusions, and will give a new significance to the world by making it possible to be analyzed. In that way, Anatole France denies absurdity and despairs of a Darwinian evolution. Then, France's thought gives us a philosophy where scepticism descends from Desire - not the opposite - and where we can feel the essential being of things - what we call the logos. Anatole France fights for honour of human existence in an incomprehensible universe.
