Le Tagant entre Sahel et Sahara

Abstract : Situated on the borders of the sahel and the mauritanien sahara the tagant plateau (altitude from 300 meters to 500 meters) is a transitonal natural and human environment, The meeting point of converging influences of the north africa and sahel. The climatic crises wich has affected the area for the last 23 years has deeply upset the balance of this "biotope". The traditional system of space sattlement, already strongly shaken by the socio-economic changes of the late 20th centurt is in the final stages of collapse. The formaly nomadic tribs tend more and more to settle but fail to realise the extend damages they cause to their environnement. Here are a few case studies : Boumdeid, Moudjeria, la Tamourt en Na'aj and a land of "brousse Tigree"
