Imagerie radar par synthèse d'ouverture pour la gestion du trafic autoroutier

Abstract : In the last years, the radar technology is largely used such as system in civilian application. The purpose of this article is the setting up of extended functions for an existing HF sensor. This sensor is developped by a french industrial and is used for remote toll payment applications. The first aim of the project is to developp around the toll payment function, more applications as loca- tion of the identification card, counting vehicles or identifying vehicles[1]. These applications are based on a communication between the HF sensor (i.e. the radar) and a card located inside a ve- hicle (cars, lorries, motorcycles). The detection and communication established between the HF sensor and the card in the detected car permit the expected payment transactions. That means the information of the card is linked with all the characteristics of the vehicle. In order to avoid fraud (a card identified as 'little car' category in a big lorry for instance) and classify the vehicles, it could be interesting to compare information coming from the card and information from physical measurement (knowledge of the real gauge of the vehicle for instance). Furthermore, the number of passing vehicles is an important parameter for managing a motorway. The most sensors used to count vehicles are mechanical also they often have to be replaced. An electromagnetic sensor has the advantage that there is no mechanical interaction between itself and the vehicle. Endly, the location of the card when passing the vehicles is another interesting information in the case of multipath vehicles application.
