Soigner sa sexualité. Expérience des difficultés sexuelles et recours à la sexologie

Abstract : Based on an investigation with sexology patients, this dissertation deals in a first place with common issues within medical anthropology: the criteria by which an illness is determined, the interpretation of sexual disorders, the logics behind therapeutic itineraries, the meaning given by patients to their therapeutic process. Approaching sexual disorders and what men and women do to resolve them is also a path toward the analysis of significations and representations of sexuality in our society. In order to explain and account for their resort to sexology, men and women articulate in discourse the role they ascribe to sexuality. From this discourse, it is possible to understand the relations between sexuality and conjugality on the one hand, and between sexuality and masculine and feminine identities on the other hand.
