Français parlés et français enseignés Analyses linguistiques et didactiques de discours de natifs, de non-natifs et d'enseignants

Abstract : This work explores the relationship between spoken French and French taught in FFL (French as a Foreign Language) classroom. Our research is based on the Lancom corpus (1993, University of Louvain-Leuven), as well as personal data (70.000 words, 2006). Both are native/non-native corpora , half registered in France (natural data), and half in Belgian FFL secondary classrooms with Flemish learners and teachers. In section one, linguistic and didactic studies about spoken French are surveyed, and the situation of French language in the Flemish Region of Belgium is presented. In section two, we explore the input the Flemish learners are exposed to. Focusing on the first lessons in pedagogical textbooks, we study the way to introduce someone, a speech act which is regularly associated with expressions like voilà or c'est. Yet Lancom shows that voilà and c'est are very often used by native speakers of French, but rarely in such a context. We then study the second input for the learners, that is the discourse's teachers when evaluating learners play roles. We outline that the Belgian teachers of the corpus don't always use the good criteria to evaluate spoken French performances, mainly because they have a written representation of what to teach. In section three, we show that, paradoxically, the French spoken in classroom by the teachers, even non native, is very close to the French spoken in everyday conversation. To demonstrate this, we propose an analysis of question and agreement, which are two important speech acts in everyday conversation as well as in classroom exchanges. We then present new hypothesis for the use of the different types of questions and agreement markers.
