Simulation de sources lumineuses complexes en tracé de rayons : application à la simulation de dispositifs optiques

Abstract : In computer graphics, images are created using simulation of real physical laws. Light sources are then an essential part. They emit the energy that is then diffused in the scene. This document takes on current light sources caracterization and introduce some methods to speed up their treatment. After an exhaustive remind of current notions in computer praphics in chapter 2, we studies in chapter 3 the best solutions for light source modelization. In chapter 4, an innovative solution is suggested to take into account light sources in a far-field photometry context. The chapter 5 is devoted to near-field photometry. We introduce a new data structure, named spherical lumigraph, providing 100 times reduction of time computation to treat shadow rays. A modern light source may have several additional objects like mirrors to better spread the original light flux. Outgoing rays may then be considered as a whole light source. The chapter 6 takes on such light sources, named virtual light sources.
