Mesures dynamiques lors du battage du pénétromètre PANDA 2

Abstract : Given the high heterogeneity of shallow soils, the design and construction of foundations demand good knowledge about the mechanical behaviour and the spatial variability of the soils. The in-situ tests are valuable tools to characterize the soils. Among them, the dynamic penetrometer tests are widely used around the world. However, these tests only allow to obtain a global parameter, which is the soil penetration or cone resistance. Besides, the testing devices are generally underdeveloped and the interpretation of its results is still empirical. The significant reduction in size and cost of sensors and other components allows nowadays to measure some physical phenomena that take place during singular work conditions. These measurements were unimaginable some few years ago. This is the case of the driving of the penetrometer into the soil. This work has been developed within this context and takes as reference the Panda® test (Gourvès, 1991). The main purpose of this work is to design and to build a simple and economic dynamic penetrometer equipped with different sensors to estimate: (1) the soil penetration resistance and (2) additional parameters recorded during the driving of the penetrometer. To this aim, we used a multidisciplinary methodology that combines: analytical, numerical and experimental approaches.
