Nouvelles stratégies de synthèse des nanocarbones fluorés

Abstract : The performances in the two main applications, electrochemistry (primary lithium battery) and tribology (solid lubricant) of nanostructured fluorinated carbons obtained by direct fluorination under molecular fluorine were already remarkable but notoptimized because of the presence of structural defects. New synthesis methods were studied in order to decrease these defects. According to the starting material, various synthesis strategies were investigated such as assisted fluorination, milling under fluorine atmosphere and fluorination using the decomposition of fluorinating agents, also called controlled fluoridation. The method by fluorinating agent using terbium tetrafluoride (TBF4) and xenon difluorure (XeF2) has been optimized. The electrochemical properties, significantly improved, and tribological, maintained excellent, of the fluorinated nanocarbons obtained by these methods were explained by a deep physicochemical characterization and a combination of techniques (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance, Electronic Transmission and Scanning Microscopies, Atomic Force Microscopy, Raman, X-ray Diffraction). The mechanisms differ for direct and controlled fluorinations according to the nature of the reactive species, molecular or atomic fluorine, respectively.
