Origine du fer dans le milieu intra-amas et distribution du gaz X dans les amas de galaxies

Abstract : We present sorne observations obtained from X-ray spectroscopy, with the japanese satellite GINGA, and spectro-imagery, with the americano-german satellite ROSAT, that we analyse and interpret with a model for the evolution of elliptical galaxies, on one hand, and with a model for the distribution of the X-ray gas and total mass in galaxy clusters, on the other hand. In a first part, we analyse the spectroscopy data in combination with the X-ray imagery and optical data. We confirm the presence of a large iron mass in the intra-cluster medium as well as its origin from elliptical (and lenticular) galaxies. In a second part, we developp a model for the evolution of elliptical galaxies, where the high-mass stars formation is enhanced in the begining, and apply it to cluster galaxies in order to explain together the observations on the scales of the clusters and of the galaxies themselves. The type II supernovae produce simultaneously the iron mass needed and the thermal energy that entails its ejection outside the galaxies. In a third and last part, we present a method for the determination of the mass and distribution of the intra-cluster medium and of the total mass (dark matter included) from X-ray data (combining global spectroscopy and detailed imagery), that we apply to a peculiar cluster: A2163, which extreme properties (it is the hottest and most massive cluster known at present) have important repercussions on cosmological models.
