Contribution à l'évolution des méthodologies de caractérisation et d'amélioration des voies ferrées

Abstract : The framework of the proposed research is the understanding of ballasted track behaviour in commercial trafi c. The main goals of this research are the characterization of di erent track parameters and their variability and also the prediction of mechanical behavior of the track using numerical modeling in order to optimize maintenance operations and reduce maintenance costs. This work is based primarily on experimental measurements of mechanical and geometrical parameters of the track infrastructure. A technic coupling dynamic penetrometer Panda to geoendoscopy was used to measure the thickness and the Young modulus of di erent track layers to provide a database. A statistical processing of measurement samples was conducted to describe the uncertainty of the track characteristics. To take into account this variability on the FE model, we present the stochastic collocation method allowing the probabilistic analysis of a dynamic model of a track section. This method provides estimation of statistical moments of the response process or any control variable related to this process. In a second step, we conducted a parametrical study to quantify probabilistic contribution of the various maintenance operations : raising of the track, subballast layer treatment and improving drainage conditions of the track platform. This analysis has shown the great contribution of the two latter types of operation in terms of reducing the model response dispersion and especially on the failure probability. The contribution of drainage operation improvement remains more bene cial for the behavior of the way in terms of safety.
