SUR L'ESPACE-TEMPS DIDACTIQUE ETUDES DU DIDACTIQUE, EN SCIENCES DE L'EDUCATION

Abstract : This paper has two parts: 'Personal tour in a field of questions', and 'The problems from a domain of researches'. Part I presents my background in mathematics education, since the begin-ning: 'Teaching a piece of knowledge' and identifying key dimensions of teaching: 'The didactic space-time in schools', and the determinations of their institutional dimensions: 'The didactic relationship in educational institu-tions'. This presentation provides an conceptual acculturation with the most widely used and discussed theories in the French speaking area in mathemat-ics didactics, the theory of didactic situations, TSD, and the anthropological approach to teaching, TAD. It shows the development of a biographical method that allows observation and intervention, which defines therefore a clinical method. This method produces questions about life and death of knowledge in institutions, issues and topics in the institutions. The question of collective memory is the key link between these two dimensions. Part II questions the consistency of the questions and results produced. To work out this issue we take two central notions situation and adidacticity. Then, two major types of questions are studied: the teaching/learning gap, which supposes studying and its organization, in the, and knowledge as a col-lective phenomenon in classrooms, which supposes collective memory. The evolution of our biographical approach into a clinical method is then our cent-ral aim for future studies.
