Etude du transport ionique à travers un nanocanal fluidique : vers l'électropréconcentration sélective

Abstract : This research focused on concentration of traces in a sample using electropreconcentration in a fluidic device containing a nanoslit. The technique was discoverd a few years ago. Many parameters are involved in the electropreconcentration, a large majority are difficult to control, making interpretation of results very difficult. Chapter 1 introduces the economic and societal context that justify research efforts for fluidic devices incorporating nanostructures. Competing techniques allow to set the current limits. Finally, the theory and the state of the art of electropreconcentration fixed the starting point of these three years. Chapter 2 presents the initial manufacturing process. Optimizations tested and their results are described but have not yielded to satisfactory results. An important part of this thesis was therefore used to develop an alternative process that allowed to continue the fluidic experiments. The innovative process developed has led to a patent. Chapter 3 presents the optimized experimental bench. The protocol, very important for these experiments, was studied to obtain reliable experimental results. Chapter 4 describes the experiments performed during these three years. The original experiments of ionic transport through the nanofente using pressure only, then only an electric field, then using a combination of hydrodynamic and electric field are presented.
