EXPLOITATION DES SPECTRES GAMMA PAR METHODE NON PARAMETRIQUE ET INDEPENDANTE D'A PRIORI FORMULES PAR L'OPERATEUR

Abstract : Gamma ray spectrometry is a passive non-destructive assay most commonly used for the quantification of radionuclides in nuclear waste. The thesis aims to improve the exploitation of the spectra (which takes place after the step of acquiring the spectrum). The exploitation of the spectra was done in two parts (extract energy and net areas of the peaks contained in the spectrum and determine the efficiency of the assay), the work is divided into two parts. First, we set up a validation process that quantifies the uncertainties caused by the extraction of energy and net areas and that is applicable to any deconvolution software. With this process, we studied the performance of the deconvolution performed by the software SINBAD. The work has allowed to have an automated tool for extracting energy and net areas of full absorption peaks whose uncertainties are quantified. Finally, the second part of the thesis has allowed to develop an automated method for calculating the efficiency of the assay, that is applicable to any objects being measured. The feasibility of the method to simple cases was proved by the thesis. The extrapolation to more complex cases will be subject of further studies.
