Les cantadores, poètes improvisateurs de la cantoria: une tradition en mouvement dans le Nordeste brésilien

Abstract : The anthropology of the oral literatures is for the moment not very interested in the cantoria, a tradition particular to Nordeste of Brazil. In front of a public of passionated persons, cantadores improvise poems which they sing with accompaniment of violas. The oral performances require a very mobile spirit, playing with memory and spontaneousness, and take place during ceaseless displacements of the cantadores. Conditions of production, forms of poetry and sets of themes are varied, in constant evolution. The poets adapted to the urbanization while qualifying themselves more, their remarks are more committed, they are from now more numerous with living of their popular art. Research was undertaken in three States, and is based on the idea of movement which questions the adaptability specific to the improvisers, the dynamics of which they make proof socially and ethics directing the changes which they transmit to their tradition.
