Apprentissage des fonctions au lycée avec un environnement logiciel: situations d'apprentissage et genèse instrumentale des élèves

Abstract : The research is part of the study of the uses of a geometric and algebraic software environment dedicated to functions at upper secondary level. We are particularly interested in the "student" side, with a study of situations using the Casyopée software and their effects on learning functions. The initial questions address issues relating to the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of mathematics, and consider the teaching of functions in its epistemological, cognitive and didactic aspects. The theoretical framework is constructed from a typology of activity about functions, the Rabardel's instrumental approach and a theory of semiotic representations. We propose an approach to functions via the functional modelling of geometrical dependencies. The results indicate a joint development of mathematical knowledge about functions and knowledge about Casyopée during the instrumental genesis, and show how a regular use of the artifact allows students to articulate these two types of knowledge. The research illuminates the contributions of the typology of activity for the teaching and learning of functions in digital learning environments. We also consider how students' activities in the different registers of Casyopée can bring out a co-development of the "process" and "object" conceptions, and thus facilitate a flexible understanding of functions.
