Etude de la propagation des ondes électromagnétiques dans les tunnels courbes de section non droite pour des applications métro et ferroviaire

Abstract : This PhD research focuses on radio wave propagation modeling in curved tunnels with non- straight section for railway transportation. The solutions are developed in the form of a ≪ plu- gin ≫added to the core of an existing tool developed for wave propagation, RaPSor, coming from researches of the XLIM-SIC laboratory of the University of Poitiers. In this work, we showed that classical techniques of radio wave propagation modeling in straight tunnels can not be transposed to the curved tunnels. We first tested a tesselation technique of the curved cross-section of straight tunnels. It is combined with Ray Tracing of the RaPSor tool and with Ray Launching, developed during thesis. Limits of this technique are given. Second part of the work represents the core of the thesis work. We developed a method based on Ray Launching combined with an analytical representation of curved surfaces and an optimization of received paths. Uniform distribution of rays at transmission is performed using quasi-random sequences of Hammersley. An adaptative sphere is used at reception. Optimization of received rays is based on well-known Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The aim is to mimize the total distance of paths in order to get close to real paths in geometrical optics meaning. All the developed methods were tested and evaluated with literature results and measurement results performed by LEOST and ALSTOM-TIS
