Abstract : In the pagan Celtic religion, the god Lugus has a predominant position, because of the high number of his functions and incarnations. This study gathers and deals with the whole elements about this god, from the medieval Irish and Wales literatures, and also from the archaeological and epigraphically facts of the ancient Celts. The study of the birth of the god, of his death, his links with crafts, warfare and kingship leads to show the importance of Lugus in the cosmogonic progress of landscape organization and human society.
