Approche spectrale/éléments nis pour des problèmes de magnétohydrodynamique non-linéaires

Abstract : The work presented in this manuscript is part of a project that aimed to develop a new nonlinear three dimensional code for the magnetohydrodynamic equations in any axisymmetric container. The main contribution of this thesis was to develop a numerical formulation for taking into account magnetic permeability jumps within the conducting domain. For this purpose, an Interior penalty Galerkin method has been chosen. In this manuscript, we present numerical results for three different applications : the generation and study of the propagation of Alfvén waves in a fi nite cylindrical container, the study of magnetohydrodynamic effects in a keplerian disk and a realistic simulation of the VKS2 dynamo experiment. The originality of our numerical approach on the last topic is based on the fact that we incorporate in our simulations materials of high magnetic permeability present in the experimental set-up. Although the role of such materials is well understood and exploited in magnetostatic for long, its impact remains to be clari ed in magnetohydrodynamics.
