Impact des interactions membrane/électrolyte sur la diffusion de sucres à travers des membranes échangeuses d'ions

Abstract : It was recently pointed out that the transfer of neutral species through different types of membranes is modified according to the ionic composition. In the presence of salts, the transfer of solute is increased, which can lead to a degradation of the performances of the processes. In this work we present the results of an experimental study in which diffusion of sugar in different ionic solutions, water and electrolytes, were determined through ionic exchange membranes. A specific procedure was working out to determine the impact of the two types of interactions on sugar transfer. The results show that, under the studied conditions, the modification of the transfer of solute is mainly due to the interactions between membrane material and the solution. A correlation was established between the hydration scale of the counter-ions of the membrane and the solute diffusion.
