Synthesis of Strontium Cuprate (SrCu2O2) by MOCVD as a P-type Transparent Conducting Oxide Thin Film.

Abstract : Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) as transparent electrodes in the form of thin film are used in a large number of applications such as solar cells, liquid crystal displays, touch screen etc. However, these technological applications of TCOs are still limited because of the availability of only n-type TCOs. For diverse technological applications synthesis of efficient p-type TCOs is of utmost importance. In p-type TCO category, copper oxides of delafossite structure (ACuO2) or SrCu202 structure show promising opto-electrical properties. In this PhD research work, MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) technique has been used for depositing thin films of SrCu2O2. However, pure and crystalline phase of SrCu2O2 was achieved after some annealing steps under oxygen and then under argon or only in nitrogen, with rapid heating and cooling rate. The measured electrical and optical properties are of the same order reported in various journals.
