Un des enjeux de cette évaluation était la quantification des covariances entre les erreurs d'ébauche ALADIN et d'analyse ARPÈGE. Il ressort que E kb n'est pas de même amplitude que B et V , mais le rapport d'amplitude est inférieur à 10. Dans le chapitre suivant , le terme E kb sera donc négligé par rapport aux termes diagonaux de la matrice W , tout en sachant que l'on commet une certaine erreur dans cette approximation. L'étude en point de grille permet de connaître les répartitions horizontales des écarts types d'erreurs (qui ne sont pas homogènes) et des covariances horizontales (qui ne sont pas isotropes) On a aussi montré que les hétérogénéités horizontales de V sont du même ordre que celles de B, ce qui indique que l'hypothèse d'homogénéité horizontale aura la même validité pour les deux termes, L'intérêt des statistiques de B évaluées par une méthode ensembliste a déjà été prouvée par des travaux antérieurs, 2006.
