A contribution to the simulation of Vlasov-based models

Abstract : This thesis has as a goal the development, analysis and application of numerical schemes for the simulation of kinetic models based on the Vlasov equation, in particular of schemes based on Strang splitting and a essentially non-oscillatory interpolation method (WENO). The schemes are tested on increasingly complex test cases, and in the last part of the work applied to a Boltzmann-Schrödinger-Poisson model which describes the transient states of a nanoscaled transistor.
