Abstract : In a mobility oriented context, where the demand of higher throughputs is always present, the use of frequency agile RF receivers has beccome common. The objectiv of this theses is to propose technical solutions capable to tackle the issue of the performance-power consuption trade-off of RF receivers dedicated to a simultaneous dual RF band processing. In the begining, the conclusions of a bibliographic study of the architectures used for this type of receivers underlines the high power consumption due to the use of an processing chain stack-up architecture, where each frequency band is processed by a dedicated front-end. Several RF receiver architectures have been proposed, prototyped and tested. The common point of all these architectures is the use of a unique processing chain (front-end) in order to simultaneously process two independent RF bands. The conclusions of the different stydies that have been done show that the proposed solutions represent good alternatives to the processing chain stack-up due to the better performance-power consumption trade-off offered.
