Imperfection, temps et espace : modélisation, analyse et visualisation dans un SIG archéologique

Abstract : This thesis develops a global approach for the handling of spatiotemporal and imperfect data in an archaeological GIS. This approach allows us a better management of those data in order to model or to represent them. In this approach, a new taxonomy of imperfection is proposed for the modeling of archaeological information. Using the modeling, this work presents some new methods for data analysis in an GIS. The temporal aspect of archaeological data implies to define an index which quantifies the anteriority. The lacunar aspect is also exploited through an interrogation method using a geometrical form. This work finally explores and visualizes archaeological dataset to extract the most representative elements. This thesis, which gives an approach on the management of imperfect knowledge in time and space, links computer science and geography. The use-case of this thesis is an archaeological database associated to a GIS.
